For five hundred years, medicine learned the body mostly through pictures. So who got drawn, and how carefully, is not an art history question. It is a clinical one. The full anatomy of the clitoris was published in 1844. Modern anatomy had to rediscover it in 1998. And nobody counted its nerve fibres in a human until 2023.
